MVA is accepting applications for counselors and non-clinical supports to join our team! You will provide recovery-oriented support and treatment in individual and/or group settings. We offer competitive wages based on experience, credentials, and licensing.  Supervision will be provided, free of cost.

Clinical Therapist

As a Clinical Therapist, you’ll provide individual and group counseling, develop personalized treatment plans, and collaborate with support networks to help clients overcome substance use and mental health disorders. This role involves comprehensive assessments, ongoing progress reviews, and connection to community resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop rapport and maintain therapeutic relationship with individuals who struggle with substance use disorders and/ or mental health disorders.
  • Complete ASAM Continuum biopsychosocial assessment to establish history, current needs, and strengths.
  • Conduct individual counseling sessions and therapeutic groups utilizing evidenced-based practices.
  • Create a person-centered treatment plan in partnership with client, potential supports, and other treatment team members if applicable.
  • Review treatment goals on a regular basis to determine progress, celebrate successes, identify barriers to treatment or other problem areas, and prepare for discharge.
  • Collaborate with other treatment providers, courts, Protective Services, and other members of client’s support network.
  • Provide prevention-orientated education such as communicable diseases.
  • Provide referrals to clients and their children (if appropriate) as needed, such as residential treatment, primary care provider, and psychiatric services.
  • Work in partnership with case management and peer recovery coaches to connect clients to community resources and programs such as food pantries, community meetings, employment assistance programs, and housing help.
  • Participate in supervision and case consultation meetings.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely manner.
  • Complete required trainings and continuing education.

Qualifications:

  • CADC / CAADC credential, or must be able/ willing to obtain a development plan
  • Ability to build rapport with clients and maintain professional boundaries
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Previous experience in substance use disorder/mental health counseling or other related fields is preferred
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or related field

Physical Requirements:

Pay:
Starting at $23 per hour. Additional Covid-19 related stipend is provided for direct-service time provided in residential setting. MVA offers paid supervision, continuing education and training, and clinical meetings. 

Peer Recovery Coach

As a Peer Recovery Coach, you will leverage your personal recovery experience to support clients, facilitate recovery skills groups, and provide information on community resources, while fostering a welcoming, empowering, and recovery-oriented environment.

Reports to:
Clinical Director and Program Director (if working in residential setting)

Essential Functions:

  1. Contribute to a welcoming atmosphere.
  2. Provide clients with orientation regarding the business, their rights, service options, emergency procedures, etc.
  3. Provide clients with information regarding community resources and programs including but not limited to infectious disease testing and treatment, basic needs, medication assisted treatment, etc.
  4. Uses recovery coaching strategies to maximize opportunity to create partnerships and recovery-oriented working environment.
  5. Utilize recovery principles while supporting people in crisis: hope, choice, empowerment, recovery environment, meaning, and purpose.
  6. Provide strength-based and trauma-informed care and services.
  7. Facilitate recovery skills groups.
  8. Assist in reduction of transportation barrier by coordinating or providing (as deemed safe and appropriate by clinical staff) transportation.
  9. Assist people in building, strengthening, and practicing coping skills and other recovery tools.
  10. Complete documentation in an accurate and timely fashion.
  11. Complete and maintain trainings as required by state, accreditation, payer source, or supervisor.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license and active auto insurance
  • Ability to build rapport with clients and maintain professional boundaries
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Previous experience in substance use disorder/mental health or other related fields is preferred
  • Pass random drug-tests, as requested
  • Pass background checks as required at hire, and on-going as required by funding source

Resident Aide

As a Resident Aide, you’ll support individuals with substance use and mental health disorders by facilitating daily living tasks, conducting screenings, and providing a safe, structured environment in a residential setting. This role includes participating in on-call rotations, group activities, and ensuring timely documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop rapport and maintain professional relationship with individuals who struggle with substance use disorders and/ or mental health disorders.
  • Orient clients to rules and expectations of living in a residential setting.
  • Conduct screenings to gather information regarding treatment and basic needs.
  • Monitor residents and intervene utilizing de-escalation skills, as needed.
  • Monitor and conduct drug testing and PBT.
  • Facilitate group activities.
  • Facilitate client self-administration of medications and log appropriately.
  • Assist and/or supervise in daily living tasks of residents such as meal preparation, laundry, housekeeping, etc.
  • Assist clients in transitioning from one activity to the next by monitoring breaks
  • Participate in supervision and other scheduled meetings.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely manner.
  • Complete required trainings as required by funding source and as directed by supervisor.
  • Utilize personal vehicle, if company vehicle is not available, to transport clients or perform work-related tasks such as going to the grocery or pharmacy.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation; being available to cover shifts during your on-call period.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to any calls or requests for coverage during your on-call period.
  • Maintain open and clear communication with team members and supervisors regarding availability and coverage.

On-Call Requirements and Compensation

  • On-Call Rotation: Participation in the on-call rotation is mandatory. The rotation schedule will be determined based on team needs and will be communicated in advance.
  • Stipend: You will receive a stipend of $50 per week for being on-call.
  • Shift Coverage Compensation: If you are required to cover a shift while on-call, you will be paid at 1.5 times your regular hourly rate for the hours worked.
  • Forfeiture of Stipend: If you are unable to cover a required shift during your on-call period, you will forfeit the $50 on-call stipend for that week.
